The paint is really soft and chips easily. I am a carpenter and I use this all the time. Also, new owners should take great care to wash and wax their vehicles regularly. Don't get fooled by the 108 hp. I was on a tight budget and needed a reliable car for the 22 mile trip to work. Handling with the stock suspension isn't terrible, but it can yeild a tipping sensation around sharp corners. With a huge aftermarket supporing the xB, there is also a lot of fun to be had. Aside from the ugly taillights, this car is a bargain head turner straight off the lot. I still have the original brakes, etc. The front bucket seats are very comfortable and offer great support and styling, but they are also very soft and wear out quickly.
If I had better credit I may have bought an Element but overall I don't regret it. I would invest in some seat covers. It is a little hard on tires. We have clean reasonably priced cars, all with low miles. The problems I had were like others have stated. I use this car not only to transport people, but tools. It is so comical because before I got this car when I went anywhere with my son, we took his car now he holds out his hand for my keys.
The dependability of these vehicles is amazing! It sits very low to the ground and driving down the road in a snow storm I hit a chunk of snow that fell off another vehicle cracking the front valance. I play in a band. You have as much space on the back as you do on the front. It has a lot more room than you might expect, and gets fabulous gas mileage, way better than what they say. We are centrally located between. The incredibly low mileage and painstaking upkeep on this Scion xB. The interior materials are not swank but take a beating without complaint or wear.
. To put a belt back on you have to guess how much tension is on because there is no tensioner. There are a few places were mine has began to rust due to paint chips. It handled very poorly in snow. Please call for more details.
It's also a breeze to park in the city, with its short body I can get it into some tight spots. The shape does defy aerodynamics and I refer to it as the box kite occasionally but the traction control works well in sticky situations. Luckily, Toyota offers lowering springs and other suspension upgrades at the dealership, which I would reccomend investing in. The ride is verrrrry sporty much like a bobsled on rough roads but does not seem to suffer mechanically.
I have done nothing more than regular maintenance and replaced tires. If you buy this car new, you have to pay extra for floor mats and the stereo. It is comfortable and efficient for me and my small family for commuting , I like how dark it is at night and the speedometer in the center is an idea I wish other cars had. My reccomendation is to skip the Scion stereo and purchase an aftermarket model. The handling is superb an it can do magical things in terms of turning radius.
Mine leaked inside and would fog up with condensation. It has gone through a few back hatch handles but they were in warranty and tires do not last as long as on other cars but they get a lot of tough work. It carries four people in style or a baby truckload with the seats down in the back. If you don't have credit or if you have bad credit you will need roughly.
