The transmission has never worked so good. The o-ring below the cross bore seals the loss of fluid to the reservoir. This Sonnax kit works in either modulator valve location. The Explorer has 154,00 miles and has seen better days. The loss to the reservoir causes loss in pressure to the top of the piston and the loss to the underside of the piston causes back pressure. But you can do that as many times as necessary. Fluid pressure loss at these apply components results in low line pressure, shift complaints and burnt clutches and bands.
The increasecd ratio assembly provides a firmer and quicker lockup feel. Demand for them may change in time as there may be fewer of these vehicles on the road. The o-rings redirect all the flow to the top of the piston where it is needed. Line pressure will be reduced as the circuits between line, converter and exhaust wear. As the valve bore wears at the inboard spool, line pressure escalates with increased temperature and the pressure regulator valve does not stroke, reducing converter charge. The added O-rings greatly reduce or eliminate leakage where the bore is worn at the end plug. The exposed o-ring cross sections are under very little force, around 2-3 pounds. Much more easy access and visibility. The combination of these springs and valves in a Sonnax kit gives you the best of both worlds: a modest pressure increase at the low end, with a high-end pressure that is equal to or greater than that of other aftermarket kit springs. Not only is that an expensive proposition for high mileage vehicles, it is an undertaking that could only be done by experienced shops or mechanics. Correction: This drop-in-place assembly includes a harder canister with more support for the plunger valve, which prevents sticking. Correction: This Sonnax kit allows wear to be eliminated, future wear to be prevented and correct hydraulic pressures to be restored to critical apply components. It is absolutely perfect and I just want to thank you and just tell you how impressed I am with your part. As line pressure goes up, servo covers and pistons have excess pressure in reverse. And the pipe went back in easily with a slip connector and clamps. This fix is not a permanent fix but we consider it a intermediate to long term fix. Be the first to review this product!
