I might add that it helps if the tank is almost empty as it makes it much easier to handle. Fragments from that traveled further along and destroyed the throttle body metering valve and all 8 fuel injectors. The contact showed the parts to the dealer and they stated that they have never seen this type of failure. After having all this work done, the last fuel pump only worked for about 6 months before it went out again. I need my truck get to doctors and food. If broke I worked on it until I found problem.
Sorry to bother you with my problems. Again need help I am sixty two years old, on disability with no money pay get fixed. I feel that the first sign of this problem is that the gas gauge will start to malfunction, which leaves you guessing at the amount of gas in the tank. The failure mileage was 106,000. When the key is turned on the fuel pump does not come on. I do that on my race cars. If the vehicle starts, then replace them as a pair.
On the passenger side of the motor, find the fuel block feeder line, located above your injectors. Be sure your ignition power source can handle 20 amps. When I put gas down the throttle body the truck will start right up and run until the fuel burns off. Everything seemed to work fine until a few months later. Now I have find out why it is rough running and stalling at idle.
Replace everything same way you took apart. As mentioned I can get the pump to come on if I hot wire jump the fuel fuse on the firewall next to the fuel pump relay. You should see a black and yellow sticker below a hole indicating that the fuel pump shut off switch is here. Better quality than the original. There should be a lot of fuel pressure if the pump is working.
I have never gotten a peep out of the pump even after replacing all the above mentioned parts. Is it after the relay but before the pump? Well I am closer but no closer if you know what I mean. I just cut out the connector and rewired the pump to run off a switch from an always hot source. Click the logo for parts by. Why will the pump not come on and why will the injectors not fire? Replacement fuel pump relays are available from licensed Chevrolet dealerships and auto parts stores. I've owned the truck since new. If there is now, or very little pressure, I would first replace the fuel filter.
Pump failed on me in on an extremely hot day over 100 f degrees. All in all it is an easy job. This time it luckily did not ruin the above mentioned items. I hot wired the pump and grounded the injectors one at a time and they sprayed fuel big time and the engine would start. Thinking something shorted out by the two wires that were melted together. If the relay goes bad, this is the only way you will get your fuel pump to run and your car to start.
A jumper wire from the positive battery terminal. Remove the strap bolts and the tank will come undone. Be careful disconnecting lines - if you break any of the little tubes they go onto you might have to replace the whole sending unit. Went through all the passlock relearn scemes to no avail so to test pump i put power directly to it and it ran but sounded like crap. The other would be to swap it out with another in that area, with same on it.
The vehicle has not been repaired. When the brake pedal is depressed, the brake switch cuts power to the Lockup Solenoid. I have power to left side injector. The two wire connector in the back of the engine bay had a bad wire. Be sure that the battery power wire can handle 30 amps.
Ground Wires All the ground wires are terminated with two ring terminals and can be bolted to the back of the passenger side head. I hot wired the circuit at the fuse and the pump runs then. Once you lower the tank a little bit you should have access to the place on top where the lines connect. Ok, so the problem is today a couple of times the switch did not power up the pump. Sure enough, the fuel pump failed on us also at 163,000 miles. After emptying it, I used a hair drier to completely dry it.
