I had it towed to the dealership where it was diagnosed to have a completely malfunctioning ignition switch and was told that the parts were on back order and he did not know when they would be available. I called a number on the site about the recall and she told me my vehicle was not included in the recall because it did not fall on the right manufacturing date. When turning the key there is no resistance or clicking when switching between the stops that are normally there accessory, start, etc. On a warm day this seams to only take seconds but on a day below 40 degrees it seems to take as long as 30 minutes and it doesn't seem to start clicking until I tap the relay or try to turn over the vehicle several times to build current or fuel pressure. I'm not sure if the ignition is loose, but I think it is.
The starter not evening attempting to engage sounds like there's an issue elsewhere. Need to figure how to help them troublehsoot a problem they can't duplicate. Intermittent issue of when i push the start button it just continues to crank but never starts. All the best if that is the fix, but I wouldn't write off the pink thing just yet. I don't want to use too much force and break something. How did you open the panel to get to the ignition switch? You're doing the right thing pursuing a Lemon Law case. Jumper cables or a jumper box usually helps this, if the battery hasnt gone bad. Mine completely malfunctioning two weeks later tells me there may be more to this than Dodge is aware of or, just willing to admit. Leave feedback for others to see. It's actually from where the noise is coming from.
The terminal had corroded to the point that the battery made poor contact. If I used the fob as a key, I'd have to turn it back to stop. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. From engine area or from inside the steering or from brakes. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. But i would start with the aforementioned electrical things as those are alot more common. Car started twice after second repair.
After 1 hr they say pin on other end of harness was bad. It was about 40 dollars saved me a headache and a trip to the dealership I wish I could show pictures of how I have my car starting now for the meantime, but I don't know how to upload pictures here. I cleaned the battery connections, but could not get the connector tight enough to make a good connection. The thumb wheel next to the knob is the dimmer control. Having the same exact issue with my 2013 sxt and it has been to the dealer twice already for failure to start. During the wait, the car's instrument panel would come alive, the panel gauges would swipe one time and various noises could be heard as if the car was starting but nothing was going on. The failure mileage was 110,000.
The contact stated that while attempting to turn the vehicle off, the key remained in the on position. I get in to turn on the car and it just clicks. The failure mileage was 165,000. I found the problem it's in the ignition. There is N-number of possibilities for the car to make wierd noise or any other kind of noise. Its actually from where the noise is coming from. Try tapping the solenoid with the car off, and try starting it.
