I loved this movie when it first came out and it remains relative many years later. Music journalist Maggie Foley, under the guise of doing a tribute to Eddie, is really searching for evidence of her speculation that Eddie faked his own death, his disappearance she believes having something to do with the Cruisers' final recording sessions, as the tapes from those final sessions were checked out of the record company library the day after Eddie's death never to been seen again. Eddie finally begins to play again and the two circulate through 's music scene, hand-picking musicians for a new band, Rock Solid. The others are now living ordinary lives: Sal Amato fronts a Cruisers tribute band. Maggie starts on a journey to find the missing tapes but discovers more about Eddie Wilson than she thought she would. In the disposable society that we live in, Eddie and the Cruisers reminds us of how tough the music industry is for newcomers.
