Tried everything that was offered run as admin, deleted tasks, checked permissions, etc. Deleted the event folder in scheduler and Boom! The combination of Off 2013 and Win 8 is really creating a lot of problems. Now try the office 2013 install again. I believe there's a 'random' thing part of the equation. Surely by now Microsoft has found a way to at least identify why the bootstrapper error is occurring so that you can fix it and continue the installation. Also I was never able to get the preview installed on this machine. Some features may require additional or advanced hardware or server connectivity. I still say that this whole process is a failure. As per this , the error message would look something like this — Microsoft Office encountered an error during setup. Even better yet is to clean-boot the computer so that nothing is running except the essentials.
